The Northern Territories
Since their first release 'Orange Moon' in 1997 the Swedish band
'The Northern Territories' reaches more and more adorers with their
music. The sound TNT produce combines masterfully melancholy-driven
electronic basics with acoustical instruments and sound sources.
The band was founded by Alexander Ericson (vocals, instruments and
programming) and Stefan Sääf (vocals and programming),
two students from Uppsala, that layed down their studies in computer
science in order to follow their musical ambitions. Their musical
influences, which can be made out in such differing bands as 'The
Smashing Pumpkins', 'Depeche Mode', 'Propaganda' or 'Radiohead',
reflect in the sound of TNT which has been constantly changing over
the time.
Whereas their first Album 'Midnight Ambulance' in 1994 was dominated
by pure electronics, the development of their music lead more and
more to the implementation of acoustical instruments.
We met the musicians in Berlin initially, the city, they have also
recorded their albums and the video to 'Midnight Ambulance'.
Since their parting from management and distribution after the release
of their third album 'Satellite people', nothing was to be heard
officially from 'The Northern Territories'.
Alexander Ericson has released some solo albums since...
